Wer den “Buttermarkt” betritt wird von einem lauten Rauschen begrüßt denn hier macht sich die Hauptattraktion von Saarburg schon von Weitem bemerkbar. Der Saarburger Wasserfall, in der Stadtmitte gelegen, stürzt zwischen Ober- und Unterstadt über 17 Meter in die Tiefe. Nach nur knapp 15 Kilometer Flußlauf hat der Leukbach hier also ein imposantes Finale aufzuweisen bevor er unweit in die “Saar” mündet.
Der Wasserfall entstand als im Mittelalter das Wasser des Leukbachs durch die Stadt umgeleitet wurde, um sich die Wasserkraft zunutze zu machen. Am Fuße des Wasserfalls liegen 2 Mühlen, die Hackenberger Mühle und die ehemalige kurfürstliche Mühle, die heute das Mühlenmuseum und ein städtisches Museum (Amüseum) beherbergen.
Hier im Zentrum befinden sich mehrere Aussichtsplattformen damit das spektakuläre Schauspiel aus verschiedenen Blickwinkeln bestaunt werden kann. Wir zeigen euch 2 solche Plätze (WP1 und WP2) wo dann auch die einfachen Aufgaben erledigt werden sollen um diesen Virtual Cache 3.0 loggen zu dürfen.

WP2: N49° 36.481 E006° 33.050: Gleich rechts neben der Brücke befindet sich in der Hausmauer auf ungefähr 1,80m Höhe eine 4stellige Jahreszahl. Macht ein Foto von euch oder einem persönlichen Gegenstand mit dieser Inschrift (siehe Beispielfoto).

The highest inner-city waterfall in Germany roars here!
Whoever arrives at the “Buttermarket” is greeted by a loud noise, because here the main attraction of Saarburg is already noticeable from far away. The Saarburg Waterfall, located in the city center, falls more than 17 meters between the upper and lower town. After almost 15 kilometers of river flow, the “Leukbach” has here an impressive finale before it flows into the “Saar” not far away.
The Waterfall was created in the Middle Ages when the water of the “Leukbach” was diverted through the city in order to take advantage of the water power. At the foot of the waterfall are still two mills, the “Hackenberger” mill and the former “Electoral” mill. Nowadays are located here a Mill Museum and a Municipal Museum (Amüseum).
Here in the center you can discover a few viewing platforms so that the spectacular waterfall can be enjoyed from several viewing angles. We will guide you to 2 such places (WP1 and WP2) where the simple tasks should then be completed in order to be allowed to log this Virtual Cache 3.0.
