Geocache Description:

In 1963, the former Alpine Alpa restaurant in nearby Wilmot, Ohio, commissioned clockmaker Kurt Schleutermann to build the structure before you at a cost of $50,000. It took the clockmaker 12 years to complete this giant piece. In 1977, the clock was featured on the cover of Guiness Book of World Records. It is still the largest cuckoo clock in the US at 23 feet tall and 24 feet wide.

In 2007, the clock was restored after being exposed to the weather for more than 30 years. When the restaurant closed, the clock was moved to its current location in May of 2012. It is a landmark that is enjoyed by many visitors to the area annually.

Visitors can be entertained by this real working clock every 30 minutes, complete with Swiss music and dancing figures, from spring to fall.
Parking is available on the street or in the small lot across the street. The area is typically more crowded on the weekends and in warmer months.
