El Jardín vertical de CaixaForum Madrid fue el primer jardín vertical que se instaló en España y el de mayor superficie continua del mundo, ¿increíble, verdad?
El botánico francés e inventor de esta técnica, Patrick Blanc, diseñó este jardín vertical a partir de su axioma “las plantas no necesitan tierra, sólo agua, minerales, luz y dióxido de carbono”. Siguiendo esta convicción construyó un espectacular muro vegetal de 24 metros de altura con 250 especies diferentes que sobreviven sin tierra y que asemejan un cuadro viviente.
Más de 15.000 plantas cubren el muro de 460 m2, con especies de plantas autóctonas y foráneas que se asientan sobre una manta húmeda; un grandioso muro vegetal que sobrevive sin tierra, solo necesita agua y nutrientes.
El jardín se sustenta sobre cinco estructuras de tuberías que sustituyen la tierra y anclan las raíces de las plantas al interior. El riego cae a tres niveles del muro, a través de las tuberías perforadas. Se recicla el 50 % del agua después de que el resto sea absorbido por la flora y evaporado.
Para poder registrar el caché, es necesario adjuntar una foto tuya o de un elemento característico de tu equipo junto al jardín vertical.

The CaixaForum Madrid Vertical Garden was the first vertical garden to be installed in Spain and the one with the largest continuous surface in the world. Incredible, right?
The French botanist and inventor of this technique, Patrick Blanc, designed this vertical garden based on his axiom "plants do not need soil, only water, minerals, light and carbon dioxide". Following this conviction, he built a spectacular 24-meter-high plant wall with 250 different species that survive without soil and resemble a living painting.
More than 15,000 plants cover the 460 m2 wall, with native and foreign plant species that settle on a humid blanket; a great plant wall that survives without soil, it only needs water and nutrients.
The garden is supported by five pipe structures that replace the earth and anchor the roots of the plants inside. Irrigation falls on three levels of the wall, through perforated pipes. 50% of the water is recycled after the rest is absorbed by the flora and evaporated.
