Das Hinterzartener Moor gehört zu den best erhaltenen Moore in Mitteleuropa. Davon sind 70 ha als Naturschutzgebiet ausgewiesen. Darin liegen zwei größere Hochmoorkerne bis zu 3 Meter hoch. Umgeben wird es von einem Niedermoor, das zum Rand hin ausdünnt. Wie ein Moor entsteht, wird in dem naheliegende Earthcache beeschrieben. Wir beschäftigen uns nur mit der Pflanzen- und Tierwelt, die nur in Mooren gedeihen.
Die Lage des Moores ist interessant, Das Wasser fliesst aus dem Moor in den Rotbach, aber auch nach Osten in den Höllenbach. Wir gehen zum WP, wo sich eine Info-Tafel befindet. Du siehst Pflanzen und Tiere abgebildet, die ausschliesslich nur im Moor leben.
Je höher der Wasserspiegel im Moor steht, desto flacher bilden sich die Wurzeln, die Sauerstoff von der Luft benötigen. Grosse Bäume haben bald keinen Halt mehr und fangen an zu kippen. Es siedeln sich Pflanzen an, die sich dem niedrigen Säuregrad des Moores angepasst haben. Es herrscht extreme Nährstoffarmut, aber die Pflanzen und Tiere haben sich so gut angepasst, dass sie mit diesen hohen Anforderungen überleben können.
Um den Cache loggen zu können, gehe zum Holzsteg WP Infotafel und beantworte folgende Fragen:
1. Zähle die Pflanzen, die abgebildet sind, die mit ganz wenigen Nährstoffen auskommen.
2. Zähle die Pflanzen, die abgebildet sind, die am Steg entlang wachsen. (Freiwillig: warum?)
3. Dieser kleine Baum, die Spirke, wächst nur im Moor. Ist er ein Laubbaum oder eine Kieferart?
4. Der seltene Schmetterling, Hochmoorgelbling, liebt eine spezielle Pflanze. Wie heisst diese Pflanze?
Erstelle ein Foto auf dem Steg mit deinem Avatar, oder mit deiner Zeichnung mit Datum und Cacher-Name. Im Hintergrund soll eine Pflanze oder ein Tier erkennbar sein. Zum Beispiel eine Moorpflanze, eine Mohrkiefer, ein Vogel oder ein Insekt. Oder du kannst einen spektakulär umgefallenen Baum fotografieren, oder alte Skelette mit bizzaren Formen, Dir sind keine Grenzen gesetzt. Das Foto hängst du an deinen Logeintrag. Ohne Foto wird dein Log leider gelöscht.

The Hinterzarten Moor is one of the best-preserved moors in Central Europe. Of this, 70 ha are designated as a nature reserve. It contains two larger raised bog cores up to 3 metres high. It is surrounded by a fen that thins out towards the edge. How a bog is formed is described in the nearby Earthcache. We are only concerned with the flora and fauna that only thrive in bogs.
The location of the bog is interesting. The water flows out of the bog into the Rotbach, but also to the east into the Höllenbach. We go to WP, where you find an information board. You see plants and animals depicted that live exclusively in the moor.

Large trees soon no longer have a foothold and begin to topple over. plants that have adapted to the low acidity of the moor settle. There is an extreme lack of nutrients, but the plants and animals have adapted so well that they can survive with these high requirements.
To log the cache, go to the footbridge, WP info board and answer the following questions:
1. Count the plants are pictured, they need only very few nutrients.
2. Count the animals are pictured growing near the boardwalk. (Voluntary: Why?)
3. A plant is calling Spirke. What is the other name of this tree? Is it a deciduous tree or a pine species?
4. You see on the infoboard a yellow bog butterfly. It loves a special plant. What is the name of this plant?
Create a photo on the footbridge with your avatar, or with your drawing with date and cacher name. A plant or animal should be recognizable in the background. A bog plant, black pine, a bird, or an insect, a spectacular fallen tree, you can photograph old skeletons with bizarre shapes, there are no limits to you. Please attach the photo to your log entry.
