The posted coordinates will bring you to a sign indicating Lynn Canyon Suspension Bridge.
Lynn Canyon Suspension Bridge swings merrily in the breeze as it spans Lynn Canyon for a distance of 40 meters (that's 130 feet for our American visitors) and is approximately 50 meters (167 feet) above the canyon below. The original bridge was built in 1912 but has been renovated since then. It's just wide enough to allow two people to cross.
Situated in beautiful Lynn Canyon Park, this bridge is free to the public and is available year round. Be sure to check park hours, however, as the gates close at night.
Access and Parking
The District of North Vancouver has decreed pay parking. If you choose to pay and park, you could almost call this a park and grab. However, this location is a popular spot and all too often, the parking lot is filled to capacity. You'll have better luck finding parking during a weekday or off season.
Access by Trails
If you care for a little exercise through gorgeous forested scenery, you can access the bridge from various trails, some more challenging than others.
The trailhead given here is a good choice if you prefer an easy walk in. The trailhead is actually Ross Road, and at the time of this writing, it's a one way vehicle road, with vehicles heading south. Periodically, it is closed to all but service vehicles. Walking this gently sloping road will bring you to the overflow Lynn Canyon parking lot and from there, you're close to GZ.
For a somewhat longer and more scenic walk, follow Ross Road to the point where the road branches, with one branch going directly to the parking area, and the other indicating the way to the Suspension Bridge via the Twin Falls Bridge. This latter route will give you a chance to explore the scenic Twin Falls bridge area but be aware that you will have to access a steep and rather long flight of stairs to get to GZ.
To claim this Virtual Cache, you must do ONE of the following:
1. Draw an outstanding picture of yourself crossing the bridge. Take a photo of your drawing with the actual bridge in the background, and post this picture with your log. You decide whether your drawing is outstanding. I am not an art critic. If you think stick figures are outstanding, that's okay with me.
OR
2. From the posted coordinates, locate a memorial commemorating a young person for an act of heroism. Message me the date on which this young person gave their life to save another.
Sorry, but found logs without accompanying responses will be deleted within a couple of days.
