Welcome to the a hidden and often missed piece of PA history.
This cache will take you to the Soldier's and Sailor's Monument in downtown Lewistown. Set into the foundation on the south side of the 64-foot-tall monument is a stone engraved with the words, "This stone from Lincoln's Tomb Springfield Ill." The small granite block at this monument's base is the only part of Lincoln's Tomb outside of Illinois.
This stone was gifted to Mifflin County when Lincoln's tomb was being remoded. The request for the stone was made, and hononored by the Lincoln Memorial Foundation because The Logan Guard, Mifflin County's volunteer soldiers, were the first to answer President Lincoln's call for troops at the start of the Civil War. If you want to learn more about the Logan Guard, you can read all about their service during the Civil War at the added way point spot.
Logging Requirement
In order to claim a find here you must upload a picture of yourself or something like your GPS with the monument at GZ OR you can message me the answer to the question "What was the motto of the Logan Guard?" (The answer can be found on the Logan Guard Historical Marker)
