Cueva De Nerja

Columna llamada "La Bota"

HISTORIA

En 1959 la cueva de Nerja fue descubierta accidentalmente por unos chicos locales que estaban cazando murcielagos.

La cueva comenzo a desarrollarse hace 50 millones de anos.

Tras las primeras exploraciones se hizo pública su importancia por dos motivos -

por la amplitud de sus estancias (Casi 5k de longitud)  y por los restos arqueológicos encontrados (evidencia de habitación, entierros y restos).

HOY EN DIA

Hay cuevas subterraneas interconectadas en forma de sala para visitar.

Puedes visitar esas cuevas 363 dias cada ano y estan abiertas al publico.

Aqui podras ver magnificos ejemplos de formaciones rocosas como ecstalactitas y estalagmitas.

Hay otras cuevas cuales no son abiertas sin cita previa. Aqui puedes ver las pinturas murales del hombre paleolitico.

OTRAS ACTIVITADES

No solo cuevas para ver aqui. Hay hermosos jardines para disfrutar y un paseo muy interesante para recorrer esta zona.

El tren turistico de Nerja hace parada aqui y hay mucho espacio para aparcar y hacer picnics.Tambien hay una tienda y un cafe.

Las coordinatos estan en el parking. Necesitas caminar hasta la officina de entrada donde descubriras el monumento y las placas de informacion.

2. Mirar a la derecha del monumento. Hay dos placas de informacion sobre el paseo y el sitio.

HISTORY

Nerja Cave was discovered accidentally by some local lads as they were hunting for bats in 1959.

After the initial explorations, the find was made public for two important reasons -

the cave was huge at nearly 5 kilometres in length, and there was ample archaeological evidence of human occupation and remains from  ancient times.

NOWADAYS

There are many spacious, interconnected subterranean caves to visit. You can visit these caves 363 days of the year and many are open to the public. 
There are magnificent examples of rock formations such as stalagmites and stalactites to see. Other caves where you can see wall paintings made by Palaeolithic man you can visit by making an appointment in advance. 
 

OTHER ACTIVITIES

There are not only caves to see here. You can enjoy the beautiful gardens and perhaps go on a walk around the area. The tourist train that comes from Nerja makes a stop here. There is a shop with more information about the caves and also a cafe.

The posted Coordinates take you to the Main Carpark. You need to walk to the ticket office and Cave entrance where you will find the Monument and Notice boards

2. Look to the right of the monument. There are 2 information boards about the walk and the site.
