Geocache Description:

Reykjadalur is located in the south part of Iceland just north of the town Hveragerði. It is exceptionally beautiful geothermal area with a great deal of hot springs and mud pools. The river that runs down the valley is actually hot in some places so it is possible to dip in, relax and enjoy the stunning nature. The trail leading to Reykjadalur is suitable for everyone. It's not too difficult, it's only an hour of easy walking (one way - 3 km ), there are a few turns and ascents and one short section when it's better to take children by the hand. Along the way, a beautiful view of the valley from Hveragerdi and the ocean in the distance will open to you. You will also pass a small steaming waterfall. Just before the end of the trail, you will break through a cloud of sulfur-smelling steam, which is a sign that you are close. Mud gurgles on the sides and water boils straight from the rocks. Behind this hellish gate, in a paradise valley, a river flows peacefully. You are on the place. That's a hot river in a smoking valley (because it literally means Reykjadalur). On its banks, wooden piers with small steps into the water were built to protect the river banks from being trampled. There are also several wooden walls and benches on which you can hang or put clothes.
