This virtual cache will take you to a monument on Florida State University's campus named "Integration". Integration commemorates three alumni of Florida State University: Maxwell Courtney (first African American graduate of FSU, Class of 1965), Fred Flowers (first African American to wear an FSU athletic uniform), and Doby Lee Flowers (first African American Homecoming Queen, elected in 1970). The monument possesses numerous plaques indicating the significance that these individuals have brought to the FSU community.
In order to receive credit for finding this virtual cache, please send a message to me with answers to the following questions which can be found at the monument:
1. What is the number on Fred H. Flowers' uniform?
2. What is the subject of the textbook that Maxwell Courtney is holding?
3. How many roses are in Doby Lee Flowers' bouquet?
4. On what date did a human chain of hundreds pass, hand to hand, a bronze disk from the monument to a commemorative pyramid on the Student Legacy Walk?
Optional: Take a picture of yourself at the monument and attach it to your message (you can also attach it to your Found It log if it does not spoil any of the answers).
It is recommended to start from the northwest side of the monument and work your way clockwise. The answer to Question 4 is repeated at all sides of the memorial. All answers can be obtained through observation from the ground level. You DO NOT, and SHOULD NOT, climb the monument.
