Geocache Description:


The posted coordinates will take you to an amazing roadside attraction in the Kenton neighborhood of Portland Oregon. This 31 foot tall concrete and metal sculpture of the folk hero Paul Bunyan and was built in 1959 to honor Oregon's timbur industry. As well as commemorate the centennial of Oregon's statehood during the Centennial Exposition and International Trade Fair .

It was designed and erected by the Jenton Businessmen's Club. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in January 2009. 

Paul Bunyan is a giant lumberjack and folk hero in American and Canadian folklore. His exploits revolve around the tall tales of his superhuman labors. He is customarily accompanied by Babe the Blue Ox. The character was originated in the oral tradition of loggers and later on popularized by writer William B. Laughead in a 1916 promotional pamplet for the Red River Lumber Company. Paul Bunyan's liknessis is displayed in several oversized statues across North America, this being just one if them.

If you do not want to be in the photo , just your caching name displayed in one of these ways will do. Photos with just yourself and gps as well as altered pictures in photoshop are not accepted . ABSOLUTELY NO PHOTOS FROM CARS DRIVING BY WILL BE ACCEPTED.
Failure to follow these instructions will lead to a deleted log.
