The Pakenham Yakkerboo festival was first held on Saturday, March 27 1976.
It is a street parade held around March and is open to anyone, usually consisting of floats from local primary schools, kindergartens, sporting associations and community groups.
The symbolic character of the Pakenham street parade is Mr Yakkerboo who has led the parade around the streets of Pakenham for 40+ years.

In 2017, Mr Yakkerboo and his friend were immortalised in a bronze and steel sculpture in the middle of Main Street, Pakenham.
