Welcome to what remains of the Delta Lima 3 Green Ground Observation Tower, better known as the Cairo Skywatch Tower. Built during the Korean War in 1952, this was originally a forty foot tall tower with a glass-enclosed office, used to monitor the skies for enemy planes before the US implemented a national radar system. Approximately ninety members of the Civilian Ground Observation Corps alternated shifts to maintain the watch twenty-four hours a day, three hundred sixty-five days a year.
To claim this virtual find, message me with the dimensions (length and width) of the plain concrete slab at the base of the tower. If you like, upload a picture with your log, but please make sure the concrete slab is not shown in the picture.
