Das Schloss Lichtenwalde, welches über dem idyllischen Zschopautal thront, gehört neben Schloss Augustusburg sowie Burg Scharfenstein zu der Gruppe „Die Sehenswerten Drei“ in Sachsen.
Ein Minister unter August des Starken ließ die dreiflügelige Anlage von 1722-1726 erbauen, sein Sohn den wunderschönen Barockpark anlegen. Im Schloss sind liebevoll restaurierte Repräsentationssäle wie das „Königszimmer“ oder der „Rote Salon“ zu besichtigen. Im prachtvollen Schlossinnenhof befinden sich das Teehaus und die Schlosskapelle mit einer der noch wenigen erhaltenen Donati-Orgeln.
Das Schloss beherbergt heute das Schatzkammer-Museum, das Exponate fremder und zum Teil vergangener Kulturen zeigt: Porzellan und Seidenstickereien aus China und Japan, Ritualgegenstände aus Nepal und Geistermasken aus Westafrika. Auch die wohl größte Scherenschnittsammlung Deutschlands kann bestaunt werden.
Umgeben ist das Schloss von einem Barockpark, der 2005 zu einem der schönsten Parks Deutschlands gekürt wurde. 335 historische Wasserfontänen sind über den Barockgarten verteilt und durch einen ausgeklügelten Kreislauf miteinander verbunden. Der Park ist auch immer wieder Schauplatz toller Kunst, wie beispielsweise 2015 bzw. 2019 im Rahmen der „Die Alltagsmenschen“-Ausstellung.
Mit diesem Virtuellen möchten wir Euch auf einen kleinen Spaziergang rund um das Schloss Lichtenwalde einladen. Alle Stationen sind frei zugänglich, d.h. es müssen keine Öffnungszeiten beachtet und es muss kein Eintritt gezahlt werden. Zudem sind alle Stationen mit Kinderwagen oder Rollstuhl erreichbar, ggf. müssen kleine Umwege gegangen/gefahren werden (siehe Wegpunkt bei Station 4).
Der Eintritt in die Parkanlage, die unserer Meinung nach immer einen Besuch wert ist, ist von April bis Oktober kostenpflichtig (Stand März 2022: Erwachsene 5,00 €, Ermäßigte: 4,00 €, Familie: 13,00€), in den Wintermonaten ist er dagegen kostenfrei.

Lichtenwalde Castle, which sits enthroned above the idyllic Zschopautal valley, belongs to the group of "The Three Worth Seeing" in Saxony alongside Augustusburg Castle and Scharfenstein Castle.
A minister under August der Starke had the three-winged complex built from 1722-1726, and his son laid out the beautiful baroque park. Lovingly restored representative halls such as the "King's Room" or the "Red Salon" can be visited in the palace. The tea house and the castle chapel with one of the few surviving Donati organs are located in the magnificent castle courtyard.
The castle now houses the treasury museum, which shows exhibits from foreign and partly from bygone cultures: porcelain and silk embroidery from China and Japan, ritual objects from Nepal and ghost masks from West Africa. What is probably the largest collection of silhouettes in Germany can also be admired.
The castle is surrounded by a baroque park, which was voted to one of the most beautiful parks in Germany in 2005. 335 historic water fountains are spread across the baroque garden and connected to each other by a sophisticated circuit. The park is also the scene of great art, such as in 2015 and 2019 as part of the "Everyday People" exhibition.
With this virtual we would like to invite you on a short walk around Lichtenwalde Castle. All stations are freely accessible, i.e. there are no opening times and no entrance fee. In addition, all stations can be reached with stroller or wheelchair, only small detours may have to be taken/driven (see waypoint under station 4).
Admission to the park, which we believe is always worth a visit, is chargeable from April to October (as of March 2022: adults €5.00, concessions: €4.00, families: €13.00). During the winter months, however, it is free of charge.
