The Washington Monument, built in the nineteenth century, remains to this day the tallest stone/masonry structure in the world at 555 feet 5 inches tall. It is an Egyptian style obelisk made of marble, granite, and bluestone gneiss.
And it is an iconic monument to George Washington, the first president, a great statesman, and central figure in the early republic. Stroll around the circle of American flags in the plaza and snap a few pictures. Here is the National Park Service website for the monument: https://www.nps.gov/wamo/
Logging this geocache requires that you post a picture of yourself, or some object you have, at or around the monument. Enjoy!
