Geocache Description:

This virtual is wheelchair accessible and is available 24/7, although visiting during the day is suggested.

Welcome to Montana! (if you don't already live here). You're in Big Sky Country, the land of silver and gold and mountains. While Bannack was the original state capitol, it was later moved to Helena. The building itself was completed in 1902, some 120 years ago. There are many interesting pieces of art and history about the state and the town of Helena within the capitol, which are worth checking out if you have the time. Some other fun facts about Montana include:

  • Montana was the first US state to elect a female to congress in 1880 (Jeannette Rankin)
  • Montana is the only state to share a land border with three Canadian provinces
  • Montana houses the only physical proof of the Lewis and Clark Expedition
  • Montana has one of the largest reserves of dinosaur fossils in the world
  • A Montana Yogo Sapphire is the only north american gem found in the Crown Jewels of England

To log this Virtual: in your found it log, include a photo of you or your GPS with the Capitol Building clearly visible in the background (your face is not required if submitting a photo of yourself; check the image gallery for examples). You do not need to message me.

Found it logs that do not include a photo meeting the above requirement WILL BE DELETED.

Congratulations to TheRoamingArmadillo for getting the FTF!
