🇬🇧The origins of the castle date back to 774, as evidenced by the first written records of the existence of Esch-sur-Sûre. The castle foundations date back to the year 927, when Maingaud and his wife Hiletrude from the Abbey in Stavelot acquired Esch-sur-Sûre to build a fortified castle there.
Today, in government ownership, only the fortified ruins of Esch-sur-Sûre’s former lordship are visible.
The castle is open to the public all year round.

Les fondations du château remontent à l'année 927, lorsque Maingaud et son épouse Hiletrude de l'abbaye de Stavelot acquièrent Esch-sur-Sûre afin d’y construire un château fort.
Aujourd'hui, propriété de l'État, seules les ruines fortifiées témoignent du fier passé de la seigneurie d’Esch-sur-Sûre
Le château est ouvert au public toute l'année.

Die Burgfundamente stammen aus dem Jahr 927, als Maingaud und seine Ehefrau Hiletrude von der Abtei Stavelot Esch-Sauer erwaben um dort eine befestigte Burg errichten zu lassen.
Heute in staatlichem Besitz sind nur noch die befestigten Ruinen der einstigen Herrschaft von Esch-Sauer sichtbar.
Die Burg ist das ganze Jahr über frei zugänglich.
