Nothing here but a good view! (And a little bit of Oregon Trail history too.) AAA magazine once called this one of the "Best views in Oregon"', and we agree. The viewpoint is named after Phil Jonsrud, a local historian in the city of Sandy. It's just far enough from the highway that there are never too many people here, but from this spot you have an amazing view of Mt Hood, the Sandy River, and the "Devil's Backbone", a particularly difficult stretch of the historic Barlow Road. The information signs are worth taking the time to read!
