Cache description in english
Härkätori is located right in the center of Raahe City. There's a cafe which is open during summer, a children's play area and a bronze statue called Puolustaja (Defender) made by Johannes Haapasalo from Mikkeli.
During summer, the park is a venue for a wide range of events and markets. On Christmas, seasonal lighting is attached to the pines on the edges of the park.
The park used to have a stage, which was a bit dilapidated. The stage was scheduled to be refurbished in the fall of 2016, but the refurbishment work never began. The stage was dismantled in the spring of 2020.
At one time, Härkätori was the centre of the cattle market. It was converted into a park between 1936 and 1938. The market was designed by lecturer Emil Koskinen. He designed a detailed plan of the park.
In the 1940s, Härkätori was renamed Autotori (Carpark), as it was home to a petrol station, bus station and travel services. In the 1960s, the name was reverted to Härkätori as the bus station was moved elsewhere.
