De St. Martinuskerk aan de Markt in Weert is een Rijksmonument en behoort tot de Top-100 monumenten van Nederland. Het is een grote laatgotische hallenkerk, gebouwd in de 15e en 16e eeuw met monumentale westtoren in Kempische trant en met Rijnlandse en Maaslandse invloeden. Naast de St. Michaëlkerk in Zwolle is zij de enige oorspronkelijk in steen overwelfde hallenkerk in Nederland. Kenmerk van een hallenkerk is dat de zijschepen en het middenschip even hoog en even breed zijn. Bovendien heeft elke beuk een eigen dakconstructie. Door deze constructie ontstaat een groots ruimtelijk effect.
De kerk is al vanaf grote afstand zichtbaar vanuit alle windrichtingen. De St. Martinuskerk is mede dankzij zijn 72 meter hoge toren en de daarin geplaatste beiaard een imposant en niet weg te denken gebouw in het hart van de stad.
Wie door de hoofdingang de kerk inkomt zal ongetwijfeld als eerste geïmponeerd zijn door de gewelven en de gewelfschilderingen. De St. Martinuskerk bezit één van de grootste series van laatgotische gewelfschilderingen in Nederland. Een bont spektakel, uitgevoerd in de zogenaamde secco-techniek. Afgebeeld zijn familiewapens, engelen, duivels en uitbundige bloemmotieven.
Op het priesterkoor bevindt zich de “grafzerk” van graaf Philips van Montmorency, Graaf van Horne en Heer van Weert. Hij is samen met de graaf van Egmond in 1568 in Brussel publiekelijk terechtgesteld wegens zijn verzet tegen de Spanjaarden.

Daarna mag je de cache direct als gevonden loggen, samen met een foto van (een deel van) jezelf op locatie. Indien achteraf blijkt dat de antwoorden niet goed zijn, of logs zonder dat er antwoorden worden ingestuurd worden na 48 uur verwijderd, zonder vooraankondiging.

The St. Martinus church at the Markt in Weert is a national monument and belongs to the Top-100 monuments of the Netherlands. It is a large late Gothic hall church, built in the 15th and 16th centuries with a monumental west tower in the Kempen style and with Rhineland and Maasland influences. Besides the St. Michaël church in Zwolle, it is the only originally stone-built hall church in the Netherlands. The characteristic of a hall church is that the side aisles and the nave are of equal height and width. In addition, each nave has its own roof structure. This construction creates a grand spatial effect.
The church is visible from a great distance from all wind directions. Thanks to its 72 metre high tower and the carillon installed in it, the St. Martinus church is an imposing building in the heart of the city.
Those who enter the church through the main entrance will undoubtedly be impressed first by the vaults and the vault paintings. The St. Martinus church has one of the largest series of late-Gothic vault paintings in the Netherlands. A colorful spectacle, executed in the so-called secco technique. Depicted are coats of family crests, angels, devils and exuberant floral motifs.
In the choir is the "tombstone" of Count Philips van Montmorency, Earl of Horne and Lord of Weert. He was publicly executed together with the Count of Egmond in Brussels in 1568 for his resistance against the Spaniards.

Die St. Martinus-Kirche am Markt in Weert ist ein nationales Denkmal und gehört zu den 100 wichtigsten Denkmälern der Niederlande. Sie ist eine große spätgotische Hallenkirche aus dem 15. und 16. Jahrhundert mit einem monumentalen Westturm im Kempener Stil mit Rheinischen und Maasländischen Einflüssen. Außer der St. Michaël-Kirche in Zwolle ist sie die einzige Hallenkirche in den Niederlanden, die ursprünglich aus Stein gebaut wurde. Charakteristisch für eine Hallenkirche ist, dass die Seitenschiffe und das Mittelschiff gleich hoch und breit sind. Darüber hinaus hat jedes Kirchenschiff eine eigene Dachkonstruktion. Diese Konstruktion erzeugt eine große räumliche Wirkung.
Die Kirche ist von weitem in alle Richtungen sichtbar. Mit ihrem 72 Meter hohen Turm und dem darin installierten Glockenspiel ist die St.-Martinus-Kirche ein imposantes Gebäude im Herzen der Stadt.
Wer die Kirche durch den Haupteingang betritt, wird zweifelsohne als erstes von den Gewölben und den Gewölbemalereien beeindruckt sein. Die St. Martinus-Kirche besitzt eine der größten Serien spätgotischer Gewölbemalereien in den Niederlanden. Ein farbenfrohes Spektakel, ausgeführt in der so genannten Secco-Technik. Dargestellt sind Familienwappen, Engel, Teufel und üppige Blumenmotive.
Im Chor befindet sich der "Grabstein" von Graf Philips van Montmorency, Graf von Horne und Herr von Weert. Zusammen mit dem Grafen von Egmond wurde er 1568 in Brüssel wegen seines Widerstands gegen die Spanier öffentlich hingerichtet.
