Three Lions
This virtual cache will require you to carry out 4 tasks, one standard virtual requirement and another 3 related to the rock formation you will be standing in front of if you go to the posted coordinates - Lion Rock. Sat between the start of Cheddar gorge cliffs and the picturesque lake that dominates the foot of the gorge, Lion Rock is an outcrop that bears a remarkable resemblance to the creature it is named after.
Pre-condition for logging:
Take a look around you. You should find a set of coordinates on a nearby wall. Send me the exact coordinates that you see, in the exact format that you see them. Any logs that do not have a corresponding message telling me these coordinates will have to be deleted.
Lion 1:
Identify Lion Rock and make the best photo you can of it. The photo can be taken from any angle or distance; it does not have to be taken from the header coordinates. As this is a virtual cache and you must prove that you have been here physically then please use the usual methods, include your caching name in the photo, be in the photo yourself, or include a unique geocaching item. Photo's without such an unique identify will result in a fail and a deleted log.
I have included a very bad example below - you should ensure to get a better photo than this. Upload the photo with your log.
Lion 2:
Time to get creative. Upload a photo of another Lion found in Cheddar Gorge or any other part of the village. This can be whatever you like, something you found that also looks like a lion, another type of "lion", or if you really struggle to find something, your best drawing of a lion. As long as the image is not taken from the internet, it should be fine. I did a run through myself, there are a lot of options here, especially if you get creative with the term. Upload your photo with your log.
Lion 3:
Tell us something Lion related that means something to you in your log. This can be a story, a book, a film, a song, or anything that has a link to a lion. The only way you can fail here is if you don't try.
Example Log
Lion 1 & 2 - A particularly bad picture of both Lion Rock and a lion on my chest whilst standing in the gorge. Bad because I don't want to spoil the experience of spotting the lion yourself and also to give you a benchmark to beat.

Lion 3- Having thought about it a lot, the most memorable Lion related moment I recall was probably David Platt's extra-time winning goal for England against Belguim in the 1990 world cup in Italy. He had just broken into the 3 Lions team, and, as an Aston Villa (Lions) player he was a childhood hero of mine so to see him save the nation that night was something very special.
I hope you find this cache as an extra bit of fun to add to your, no doubt, exhilarating visit to Cheddar Gorge. If you are prepared with the right footwear and fitness, why not climb up onto the Lion's back; at the time of writing, there is a tradi and an excellent view to be found up there.
Happy Caching & UTV.
