Yippee!! Look what we have been given.
I know Pengi, isn't it great. We have been awarded a Virtual Geocache as part of Virtual Rewards 3.0. Where shall we put it?
The fish, the fish, it must be the fish!!
OK keep your feathers on. What fish might that be then if I don't already know?
The Big Trout in Gore - Isn't it the most wonderful. Bet it would be tasty as well.
You know it isn't real, probably made of concrete. Made to mark the excellent Brown Trout fishing here, but we have to think of some questions to ask. Any ideas?
How about how many spots does it have? Or how many teeth? That would keep them busy.
A bit too hard that, plus we would have to count them first.
Spoilsport. How about a photo of them in front of it doing a fish impression?
That would be funny but we cannot ask them to show their faces. We can ask to show something to prove they have been there, like their GPS or companions.
Is that why I always end up in the photos you take?
Yes. You are more photogenic than me as well.
That is an understatement.
Hey, be nice. We also need to make them walk around a bit, not just park up, take a photo and go away.
They could go and look at that clock you like, and what about the guitar?
Good ideas, the Clock Tower is one of my favourites and is easily seen from the Big Fish, and Gore is also the Capital of Country Music in New Zealand. They are all in the Heritage Precinct.
So is the Moonshine Museum.
Yes but we cannot ask them to go there it is not appropriate.
So, please enjoy your visit to Gore with lots to see and do. In order to log this cache though please send to Pengi and me the answers to the following questions, do not include these answers with your log :-
1. At the back of The Trout is a sign on the wall. What particular shape is mentioned TWICE? NOTE - It is well hidden in the ivy.
2. At the Clock Tower - How many rungs on the ladder up to the first level?
3. To the right of the Big Guitar is a small tree with a plaque. What town, apart from Gore, is mentioned? ***Update*** Plaque has gone missing, so if not there please provide date under Jim Sutton plaque nearby.
You may log your find before you hear from us as we travel around a bit.
Please also take a photo of the Big Fish to attach to your log. You do not need to do a fish impression (though if you do Pengi will be very grateful) but please include something that will show it is you. Your GPS, ID tag, shoe etc.
Hope you enjoy your stay and take the time to do the other caches in the local area.
