Geocache Description:

This cache is located within the wildlife refuge of Barr Lake State Park. Dogs are not allowed in the wildlife refuge area; you will not be able to bring them with you for this cache. However, bikes and horses are allowed in on the trail to the cache. There is a daily entry fee if you don’t have an annual state park pass. The park has accommodations with track chairs to make the trails more accessible for visitors with disabilities. Contact the Barr Lake Nature Center for more information on the track chairs, 303-659-6005. Park hours are 5:00am to 10:00pm. This is a good place for binoculars.

Enjoy the walk to the Gazebo Boardwalk. Along the way there is the Niedrach Nature Trail that is a short loop trail off the main trail through an open field and along the lake shore and a boardwalk over the lake. Further along is the Fox Meadow Trail off the main trail that takes you along the shore with more opportunities to see wildlife. Keep your eye out for all kinds of wildlife including pelicans, great blue herons, cormorants, egrets, ospreys, and hawks. More than 350 species of migratory and resident birds have been seen in the park. You may also see deer, coyotes, fox, cottontail, and ground squirrels. If you are lucky you might just get to see some owls. If you are an entomology enthusiast (like me) keep your eye out for a variety of insects as well.

To verify your find please message me the the following answers:

1. What provides habitat to wildlife at Barr Lake?

2. What is the title on the interpretive sign?

Do not post your answers on the online log. If so, your find will be deleted. If your answers are incorrect, I will let you know. Finds without answers after 7 days will be deleted.

Optional: If you like, take, and upload a picture of something special you saw on your walk to or from the cache or at the gazebo.

I hope you enjoy visiting Barr Lake State Park. Permission for the cache was granted by the park manager.
