Múzeum kinematografie rodiny Schusterovej v Medzeve

Fotografickú a kinematografickú techniku môžeme pokladať za jeden z najväčších objavov ľudstva. Postupne sa stala každodennou a neodmysliteľnou súčasťou nášho života až natoľko, že takmer zovšednela a jej význam v celej šírke si uvedomuje len málokto z nás. Rudolf Schuster, od mladosti nadšený fotograf a vyznávač filmovacej techniky, začal zbierať a zhromažďovať fotografickú a kinematografickú techniku s úmyslom vytvorenia pamätnej izby v rodnom dome v Medzeve.

Okrem fotografickej a kinematografickej techniky sa v exteriéri múzea nachádza funkčný vodný hámor s uzavretým kolobehom vody, kováčska vyhňa s dúchadlom, hámorníckymi kladivami a kováčskym náradím. Hámornícku tradíciu v lokalite Šugovskej doliny a Medzeva reprezentujú kované poľnohospodárske nástroje, lopaty, motyky a iné dobové predmety, ktoré sú neodmysliteľne späté so životom ľudí v Medzeve, najmä hámorníkov. V zadnej časti záhrady sú umiestnené kolesá vodných hámrov, brúsne kamene, buchary a iné časti vodných hámrov. Sú to tzv. pamätníky zašlých čias.

Múzeum kinematografie rodiny Schusterovej sa svojou bohatosťou a rôznorodosťou historických zbierok zaradilo medzi ojedinelé múzeá na Slovensku. Po inventarizácii a dokumentácii zbierkových predmetov, ktoré do zbierkového fondu prijalo Slovenské technické múzeum, bolo Múzeum kinematografie rodiny Schusterovej sprístupnené verejnosti od 1. novembra 2007 s celoročnou prevádzkou.

Museum of Cinematography of the Schuster Family in Medzev

Photographic and cinematographic techniques can be considered one of the greatest discoveries of mankind. Gradually, it has become an everyday and inherent part of our lives so much so that it has almost become commonplace and only a few of us are aware of its importance in its entirety. Rudolf Schuster, an enthusiastic photographer and admirer of film technology since his youth, began collecting and assembling photographic and cinematographic technology to create a memorial room in his childhood home in Medzev.

In addition to photographic and cinematographic equipment, the exterior of the museum has a functional water hámor (smith equipment) with a closed water cycle, a blacksmith's furnace with a blower, special hammers and blacksmith's tools. The smithy tradition in the locality of Šugovská dolina and Medzev is represented by forged agricultural tools, shovels, hoes and other period objects, which are inherently linked with the life of people in Medzev, especially smiths. In the back of the yard, there are wheels of water hámor, abrasive stones, buchary (special huge hammers) and other parts of water hámor. They are so-called monuments of bygone times.

The Museum of Cinematography of the Schuster Family, with its richness and diversity of historical collections, has become one of the unique museums in Slovakia. After the inventory and documentation iof collection items, which were accepted into the collection by the Slovak Technical Museum, the Museum of Cinematography of the Schuster Family was made avalable to the public on November 1, 2007 with year-round operation.
