Geocache Description:

We are a Girl Scout Troop who just completed our Outdoor Art Explorer badge and were inspired to put a geocache near a large piece of outdoor art that you can experience yourself! We learned that outdoor artists use many different processes and materials. Some may use natural materials like branches or leaves to create art that is impermanent. Other artists use the natural environment as inspiration, like Rodrigo Nava did with his Wind Gates, and craft art from materials that can stand up to weather and being outdoors.  We learned that singing, dancing, and acting outdoors can be art, too!

Rodrigo Nava, the artist who made this outdoor sculpture, was Born in Mexico City, Mexico in 1978.  He is inspired by using heat and pressure to expand steel into new shapes and forms that compliment the natural environment. Nava also lets nature influence his work by letting it rust.  We like the echoing sounds that we heard in the Wind Gates and hope you like exploring this outdoor art as well.
