Geocache Description:

This is an easy park-and-grab geocache. The cache itself is hidden at a small picturesque vista point at the edge of the city, a few hundred meters from the hussle and bussle of the Kanfei Nesharim industrial zone. It's recomended to come here after hours, on weeked or holidays, when there is lots of free parking nearby.

The Etzel was a Zionist paramilitary organization that operated in Mandate Palestine between 1931 and 1948. It was an offshoot of the older and larger Jewish paramilitary organization Haganah (הגנה), which means Defence. Together with the Hagana, it was absorbed into the Israel Defense Forces at the start of the 1948 Arab–Israeli war. Its policies were based on what was then called Revisionist Zionism founded by Ze'ev Jabotinsky. Its key policies were that every Jew had the right to enter Palestine, that only active retaliation would deter the Arabs, and that only a Jewish armed force would ensure the Jewish state. Two of the operations for which the Etzel is best known for are the bombing of the King David Hotel in Jerusalem on 22 July 1946, and the Deir Yassin massacre on 9 April 1948. The Etzel committed several acts of terrorism and assassination against the British, whom it regarded as illegal occupiers. Because of these it has been viewed as a terrorist organization or an organization which carried out terrorist acts. The political arm of the Etzel would later de-radicalize and become mainstream, turning into the right-wing Herut (חירות) party, which means "Freedom". Finally, it joined up with other right-wing parties to become the popular Likud (ליכוד) party.

The name Etzel (אצ"ל) is a transliteration of a Hebrew acronym (הארגון הצבאי הלאומי בארץ ישראל Hā-ʾIrgun Ha-Tzvaʾī Ha-Leūmī b-Ērētz Yiśrāʾel), though in English it's sometimes shortened simply to "Irgun". This translates to The National Military Organization in the Land of Israel.
