In the military, it seems like we always hear about the Airborne, Air Assault, Infanty, Armor and Air Craft types of units. So lets set the record straight. None of these units could to the job that they do without the TRANSPORTATION units that support them. So here is a little shout out to the 1157th Transportation Company of the Wisconsin National Guard.
Organized 8 April 1880 in the Wisconsin National Guard at Oshkosh as the Oshkosh Rifles.
Redesignated 19 February 1881 as Company F, 2d Battalion of Infantry.
Redesignated 26 April 1882 as Company F, 2d Infantry Regiment.
Mustered into Federal service 12 May 1898 at Madison as Company F, 2d Wisconsin Volunteer Infantry; mustered out of Federal service 9-21 November 1898 and reorganized at Oshkosh as Company F, 2d Infantry Regiment.
Mustered into Federal service 18 June 1916 at Camp Douglas, Wisconsin; mustered out of Federal service 28 February 1917 at Fort Sheridan, Illinois.
Called into Federal service 15 July 1917; drafted into Federal service 5 August 1917.
Reorganized and redesignated 16 August 1917 as Company C, 150th Machine Gun Battalion, an element of the 42d Division.
Demobilized 5 May 1919 at Camp Upton, New York, and relieved from assignment to the 42d Division.
Reorganized and Federally recognized 29 June 1920 in the Wisconsin National Guard at Oshkosh as the 32d Separate Company of Infantry.
Redesignated 1 April 1921 as the Howitzer Company, 127th Infantry, an element of the 32d Division.
Redesignated 1 July 1923 as Company H, 127th Infantry, an element of the 32d Division (later redesignated as the 32d Infantry Division).
Inducted into Federal service 15 October 1940 at Oshkosh.
Inactivated 28 February 1946 in Japan.
Reorganized and Federally recognized 10 July 1947 in the Wisconsin National Guard at Oshkosh as Company H, 127th Infantry, an element of the 32d Infantry Division.
Reorganized and redesignated 15 February 1959 as the Combat Support Company, 2d Battle Group, 127th Infantry.
Converted, reorganized, and redesignated 1 April 1963 as Company A, 32d Aviation Battalion.
Redesignated 1 November 1965 as Company B, 32d Aviation Battalion.
Consolidated 30 December 1967 with Headquarters Company, 2d Battalion, 127th Infantry (see ANNEX), and consolidated unit converted, reorganized, and redesignated as the 1157th Transportation Company; concurrently, relieved from assignment to the 32d Infantry Division.
Ordered into active Federal service 6 December 1990 at Oshkosh; released from active Federal service 28 May 1991 and reverted to state control.
Ordered into active Federal service 27 September 2002 at Oshkosh; released from active Federal service 26 September 2003 and reverted to state control.
Ordered into active Federal service 14 June 2006 at Oshkosh; released from active Federal service 10 December 2007 and reverted to state control.
