Geocache Description:

This is the City, West Bend, Wisconsin. For 28 years I wore a badge to protect and serve this City. It was July 2005, I was working financial crimes in the detective bureau when we received a call of a robbery in progress at a local bank.

The story you are about to read is true, the names have been changed to protect the innocent.

While in jail waiting for their day in court, being female, Katie was separated from Sam and Scott as there is a separate female section of the jail. Being involved in the same case, Sam and Scott were being held is different sections of the jail and the three of them were not allowed to have any communication between them.

In this business, there are always some who think they are above the law or smarter that the law and those who are there to enforce it.

Scott and Sam thought they could get around the communication barrier by writing letters to relatives outside of jail. Within their letters, were letters to the brother in jail, that the relative was supposed to forward to the other brother.

These letters ended up in the hands of the police. Within one letter that Scott had written to his brother Sam, Scott talked about how he should have stuck to the plan and gotten the AK and shot the cops as they arrived from the overpass. If you recall from Part III, when the search warrant was executed at their residence, a loaded AK-47 with a 100 round magazine was seized.

Of the six robberies that were cleared, they had gotten less than $10,000 for their efforts to support their drug habit as Sam and Katie were both oxycontin addicts.
