Geocache Description:

The Moller Park Memorial Arch was built at the entrance to Moller Park in 1937 in recognition of West Harbour Mayor, Councillor and Otago Harbour Board member Hagbarth Earnest Moller (1870-1936)

Mr Moller was Mayor of West Harbour several times, the first being in 1899.  He was one of the most energetic and popular men of that district.
He was one of the founders of the Ravensbourne boating, football and swimming clubs, and of the annual regatta and the Otago Yacht Club.

The arch became a safety hazard for people leaving Moller Park onto Ravensbourne Rd (Hwy 88) and in 2017 it was decided to demolish the arch and create a new memorial here.  The plaque from the arch can be found here.
