Mölltaler Gletscher
The summit of Schareck is located on the main chain of the Alps, exactly on the border between the states of Carinthia and Salzburg, ca. 4.8 km as the crow flies east-southeast of the Hoher Sonnblick. The Schareck is the second highest summit in the Goldberg range after the Hocharn. Southwest of the summit is the glacier of Wurtenkees and the ski region of Mölltaler Gletscher. Below the mountain is the Hochwurtenspeicher reservoir of the Frag ant power station complex. To the north, another glacier, the Schareckkees, reaches to just below the top.

Salburg view
A couple of hundred meters south-east of Schareck, you will find another high peak with a steel cross on it. From here you have a nice view over the peaks in Salzburg (east side) and Carinthia (west side). And the climb to this cross during winmter is not so dangerous as the one on Schareck. But becarefull. It’s still a long way down … (as I now because I dropped my ski pole on the Salzburg side (and retrieved it).
(By the way, It’s great skiing on the Mölltaler Glacier !)
The cache
You are looking for a green waterproof container, hidden under flat stones under the cross at the Salzburg side. Please put the cache back the way you found it – or better if a colleague cacher failed to do so.
Happy Caching!
