Geocache Description:

As life long residents of this little hill country hide away, we'd like to welcome you to the Cowboy Capital of the WORLD! Why the nick name? Well, this town is surrounded by dude ranches and real working cowboys galore!

Bandera is rich with history, with a population remaining pretty constant throughout that history. In 1990 it had just 877 full-time residents and this number only reached 957 by 2000. I'd say we're a few folks over a thousand at this point and you still see the same faces day in and day out. The vibe here is a laid back one, complete with coffee shops for day trippers, picnic areas for break takers, and a dance/bar scene to accommodate the night owl. It's also a town where working your butt off is a badge of honor, with folks always building something, heardin something, raising young ones or writing a ditty! Bandera is home to some music legends like Robert Earl Keen and Arkey "Blue" Jenke, and has played host to many a infamous musical talents since the early 1900's! The food is made with love at the 100 year old O.S.T. and if you need flavors from south of the border you'll find spices in abundance at our many Mexican cuisine establishments. Like to fish, swim, kayak? You're in luck! The beautiful Medina river provides you with an opportunity for all three! Take a walk in the river park, feed the ducks, or bring your discs for a round of disc golf! You'll find yourself in awe of the marvelous, mighty cypress trees along the banks, and some amazing carvings done by a local artist right into several dead cypress in the river park.

As for geocaches, there are plenty to do within the city limits, and enough outside town to keep you hunting them for weeks! This one was made with tremendous joy by a 4yo and her Poppa, two of the 6 members of Team Dream Cacher. Inside the cache are some FTF prizes for the kiddos and room for more swag, however we'd like to keep it "Cowboy" or western themed swag if possible.  Feel free to write a note to the next traveler in the book, we plan on archiving these logs for our kids! Geo-Pencil and sharpener included for SL, the colored pencils are for YOU!
CITO if possible, why not? We are so proud and honored to be a part of this great geocacher community, and look forward to seeing your journey in the logbooks!

Thanks for visiting, please come back soon, partner!
