When you read the plaques for the two answers you need, take time to read not just quickly grab the answers. This was a bad time for many people. It was just after the Great Depression and jobs were nearly impossible to find.
President Franklin D. Roosevelt established the Civilian Conservation Corps, or CCC, with an executive order on April 5, 1933. The CCC was part of his New Deal legislation, combating high unemployment during the Great Depression by putting hundreds of thousands of young men to work on environmental conservation projects.
The CCC and the work they did all over the country including here, is part of the silver lining of the Great Depression.
