The park in which this cache is hidden was originally named Churton Park. In fact the Open Street map for geocaching still uses this name.
A real difficulty arose when referring to the park, because calling it Churton Park includes the whole suburb. So locals used the linguistically challenging name Churton Park-park. Some years ago the Churton Park Community Assn drew this strange name to the attention of the City Council, and as a result it was renamed Churton Park Reserve.
The reserve contains a sportsfield used for cricket and soccer, a basketball hoop, timber clinbing wall, as well as a childrens play ground..There are also public toilets at the south end of the sports changing rooms.
The very large macrocarpa trees in the gully are a residual part of a plantation that extended north into Lakewood Reserve. The trees serve as a great place for high swings to be attached. Halswater Drive was built on an embankment across the valley, stranding the upper part of the valley and creating the very unnatural land contours..
There is plenty of parking close by (except on some Saturdays when the sportsfields are in use), and GZ is not overlooked by houses.
You are looking for a medium sized pill container containing a log only.. There is also space for small trackables, and one has been dropped when published.
