The Sooke locals like to have a little fun down here at the spit. An ever present feature is Fort Whiffin, the massive log fort seen above, complete with flag atop!
Nearby there is also a tree that is often decorated in different themes. At Christmas it becomes a giant whimsical decorated tree, for Earth day oyster shells with messages of hopes for the earth written inside were hung. Often there are also messages in memoriam of lost loved ones.
