Geocache Description:

This is a replacement for the previous multi cache here – somebody removed the item that the cache was fastened to, so a new location had to be found, along with a new set of clues to get you there.

There has been a church on this site since at least the twelfth century, and the current pretty church of St Andrew’s contains features from the fourteenth and seventeenth centuries. It was, like so many others, greatly “restored” during Victorian times. It is a Grade II listed building.

The church yard, as well as containing the graves from past centuries, also includes a memorial stone to the airmen killed when their experimental Wellington bomber crashed in the parish on 12 July 1942.

The published co-ordinates for this cache will take you to the main gates of the church

To find the required information, you will need to go to four different locations within the churchyard:

1 – The Wellington memorial, which is just inside the gate on the right.

2 – The west end of the church, between the church and the road, where there is a large distinctive memorial.

3 – The east end of the church, where you will find a bench and three gravestones standing against the church wall.

4 – Follow the path at the side of the church until it reaches the end by the hedge, where there is another bench.

The final cache is two minutes’ walk away – it can be found at: N 52 57.ABC W 001 22.XYZ, where

A = The number of the Wellington bomber was W5A95

B = The number of bells hanging in the bell-gable.

C = Grace Rusden died on October 2C, 1864

X = The sum of the digits of the age of William Draycott when he died in 1812.

Y = In what year were “Good Friends Remembered”? – 199Y

Z = In what year was Edgar Clark born? – 18Z7

The checksum for the calculated digits is 31.

The cache is a micro container. Please bring your own pen(cil)
