This land was first used by the W̱SÁNEĆ (Saanich) First Nation. It was called SṈIDȻEȽ, which means, “place of the Blue Grouse”, a symbol meaning the land was plentiful. It was used for gathering edible and medicinal plants and building materials before it became an industrial area in the early 1900s.

The container is located along a secondary path that leads to the site of some ruins. The last small moss-covered footing on the southwest side has the cache at its base. The cache is on the north side under some sticks. It has been attached to the footing with some fishing line. Please don't break the fishing line in your haste to log the find. It's there to keep it in place so that it doesn't migrate from within a foot of the secondary path.
