The venerable geo-zoologist mikedeotis has introduced the geocaching community to many weird and wonderful creatures over the years, but perhaps even he hasn't encountered the extremely rare Phillips-Gilled Eel. They are sometimes referred to as the "Bison-Rumped Eel" for their unique appendages which tail behind their main body as a means for distracting predators. This eel species can only be found in a very narrow range of Minnesota where they inhabit specially constructed burrows for themselves. Often these burrows are brightly colored as a way of staking their territory from other eels. They also are instantly recognizable from other eel species because of a strange pair of "screw head" shaped structures located directly behind their primary gills. This particular individual was first discovered inhabiting GC35W26 as an adolescent. When nearing maturity, it began the long migration north in search of a territory of its own. Perhaps you may visit it at the posted coordinates. You will need a strong magnet attached to a string to retrieve this container. Please be gentle with it, and return it to the bottom of its burrow when you are done. The cache itself was inspired by an old favorite of ours which once inhabited Vicksburg Ln. Thanks for finding and watch out for alligators!
