Guangzhou Bridge is located in the eastern part of Guangzhou, downstream of Haizhu Bridge, and spans the main and secondary channels of the Pearl River and Ersha Island, connecting the northern and southern sections of Guangzhou Avenue, with a roundabout at the eastern end connecting it to Ersha Island. The bridge was originally called the "珠江三桥" because it was the third bridge to cross the Pearl River in Guangzhou. Construction of the Guangzhou Bridge began in April 1983 and was opened to traffic in May 1985. It is part of the Beijing-Macau Line (G105), which connects Beijing with Macau.
