Iron Chef Bobby Flay was born in New York and was a member of the French Culinary Institute’s first graduating class in 1984. After graduation he worked with restaurateur Jonathan Waxman who introduced him to the southwestern cuisine he is so famous for. Early on in his career he left the food industry to work as a clerk at the American Stock Exchange for 6 months. He opened his first restaurant, Mesa Grill, in 1991 and has opened many restaurants since then. His newest restaurant is Amalfi, an Italian seafood restaurant that opened in Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas in May of 2021. He is also known for his BBQ. His show, Beat Bobby Flay, has aired since 2013 with 367 half-hour episodes. Two competitors must cook with an ingredient Bobby chooses and the winner picks their signature dish and Bobby faces off against them. Bobby’s record is 229-138.
