Geocache Description:

A series that will not only introduce you to some of the dog parks around the mornington peninsula but we will also be sharing some fun facts and information about a different breed of dog for every cache in the series! Although they are numbered they don't have to be done in order. We have also got our resident experts, Ebony (Gnome5580s geodog!) And Calypso (Beckgizs geodog!) Who will be giving each dog park a score of 1 to 5 paws depending on how much she approves of this park! 🐶 we hope you enjoy this series as much as Ebony and Calypso had testing each of these parks out 😉 and on that note here is their opinion of this park:

HASTINGS FORESHORE RESERVE:

This very large dog off leash area is a big open area, perfect for playing games like catch and Frisbee with your furry friend. There's a good sized carpark too and a few seats and rubbish bins dotted around the reserve but unfortunately there are no fences at all so you will have to make sure you can trust your puppy to stay close to you and unfortunately there isn't any water nearby either so because of this reason Ebony and Caly give this park a 3 out of 5 paws! The breed we have chosen for this park is the:

Maremma:

The Maremmano-Abruzzese Sheepdog, Italian: Cane da pastore Maremmano-Abruzzese, also called Maremmano, Maremma Sheepdog or Abruzzese Sheepdog, is an Italian breed of livestock guardian dog. It is indigenous to central Italy, particularly to Abruzzo and to the Maremma region of Tuscany and Lazio.

Height: Male: 65–73 cm

Weight: Male: 35–45 kg

Temperament: Intelligent, Friendly, Determined, Dignified, Alert, Loyal

The Maremma Sheepdog has a life expectancy between 10 to 13 years.

Maremmas were bred in two separate regions of Italy for the express purpose of guarding livestock. This is slightly different than being herding dogs, as Maremmas were responsible for keeping their herds safe from predators, like wolves, and indeed are well-known for doing so, with a nickname of "wolf-slayers."

The Cache:

You are searching for a nano camouflaged to blend in to its environment. GZ is very close to a busy road and is a little bit exposed. You will need to pick your timing to search as well due to the school across the road so stealth will definitely be required here, we would recommend you try for this on weekends or outside of school hours, possibly even at night! Please make sure its hidden from view again after signing! Happy hunting!! 🤠

CONGRATS TO QUASAR3671 AND CAPTAINCOOPER09 ON JOINT FTF!
