The Minatogawa Tunnel was completed in August 1901 as Japan's first modern river tunnel, hollowing out the 85-meter-high Egeyama Mountain located in Hyogo Ward, Kobe City.
As a valuable civil engineering heritage site, it has recently hosted concerts and is open to the public on a regular basis.
