Geocache Description:

Arthel Lane "Doc" Watson was an American guitarist, songwriter, and singer of bluegrass, folk, country, blues, and gospel music. Watson was born in nearby Deep Gap, NC. Unfortunately, an eye infection caused Watson to lose his vision before his second birthday. He was able nonetheless to teach himself the guitar and other instruments by feel. He was incredibly proficient and highly regarded. Doc never understood why people thought so highly of him, and that he wasn't just another peron. This cache can be found at a memorial sculpture to Watson on King Street in downtown Boone, NC.
