Geocache Description:

12 June 2022, 11:00 - 17:00

Prepare for the 2022 version of the Geocaching Road Rally - Waukesha Edition!  Believe it or not, its been 10 years since we started doing road rallys in Waukesha every other year.  A few years ago, Chris (WalkingAdventure) added the Fox Valley Road Rally on the opposite year.  These events have been some of the highlights of my geocaching experiences.  We will be meeting at the picnic shelter at River Valley Park.   Lunch at 11.  Rally time time 12-??? Rain or shine.

Wifeyole and I will be supplying brats.. Please consider bringing a dish, salad, dessert, etc to pass. Also please bring your own beverages.

For those of you unfamiliar with a road rally, its a combination of an "Amazing Race" meets scavenger hunt meets, in this case, geocaching skill challenge. Each team will consist of 3-6 individuals. Each team will drive a pre-defined course along the way stopping to find some new caches and have some wacky fun at various stops along the way.

ALL are welcome to attend the event and enjoy the food and geo-chat.

There will be a sign up this year as teams will be staggered going out.  Previous winning teams for this event  -

2012 - Cannonball Run (sevencards, geohunter, lucky7z, jspleva)

2014 - Team 7 (Uncle Fun, sarge, 3Hawks, Wheelers of Fortune)

2016  - Deathrace 3000 (lobsters, wildcardK aka 'vin, candyman, sparkseeker)

2018 - Deathrace 4000 (lobsters, heavin, candyman)

2020 - lackwalkranz (lacknothing, Walking Adventure, kalkranz)

Each team will need the following:
1) One member to bring a digital camera and be the photographer and digital scavenger hunter
2) One member to bring a vehicle with an odometer and with enough gasoline in it to go 20-40 miles and enough room to fit the entire team.
3) One member with good reading / navigating skills.
4) One member with a valid drivers license.
5) At least 1 GPSr with capability to manually enter coordinates for 15 new geocaches on the course. *Note a gpx file will be provided morning of.
6) $5 per team member to complete certain tasks
7) A plastic bag to bring back scavenger hunt items

8) BYOP

Children are welcome and encouraged to attend the event, there is a nice playground at the park, but I would recommend only kids 12 or older on a rally team given the number of stops and getting in and out of the car safely and quickly. You know your children best so ultimately the choice is up to you.

The course will take at least 3 hours depending on how well you do.

Each team will be given a starting time in advance. These times will be staggered so that not everyone is following right behind one another, however depending on fast or slow you are, you could pass or be passed by other teams along the way. The first team out will have the best chance for FTFs. The first car out will be picked by a lottery.

Although this is mostly for fun, this can also be rather competitive and usually is.

1) 11:30am - Uncle Fun / Big Macs / Sarge !
They will be closely followed in approx 5 minute intervals by:
