A series that will not only introduce you to some of the dog parks around the mornington peninsula but we will also be sharing some fun facts and information about a different breed of dog for every cache in the series! Although they are numbered they don't have to be done in order. We have also got our resident experts, Ebony (Gnome5580s geodog!) And Calypso (Beckgizs geodog!) Who will be giving each dog park a score of 1 to 5 paws depending on how much she approves of this park! 🐶 we hope you enjoy this series as much as Ebony and Calypso had testing each of these parks out 😉 and on that note here is their opinion of this park:
BRASSER RESERVE:
This is a bit of a random place for a dog park and is definitely not the busiest one around either but it's a fair size with a large amount of scrub in the middle and a bit of a track running around the edge this could be a good place to come for a bit of exercise with your furry friends. Unfortunately it's definitely missing a lot of conveniences like seating, water and rubbish bins. Add to this that the fences are not very secure and it makes this park a bit limited for some dog owners! For this reason Ebony and Caly only give this park 2 out of 5 paws! The breed we have chosen for this cache is a more uncommon breed but one that Ebony and Caly happen to play with at the park sometimes!
Basenji:
The Basenji is a breed of hunting dog. It was bred from stock that originated in central Africa. The Fédération Cynologique Internationale places the breed in the Spitz and primitive types. The Basenji produces an unusual yodel-like sound, due to its unusually shaped larynx. This trait is why they are sometimes called the "barkless dog".
Hypoallergenic: Yes
Life span: 12 – 16 years
Temperament: Curious, Quiet, Intelligent, Playful, Affectionate, Energetic, Alert, Confident
Height: Male: 41–43 cm, Female: 38–41 cm
Weight: Male: 10–12 kg, Female: 9–11 kg
Basenji Dog Breed Information and Personality Traits. An aloof, very affectionate dog, the basenji can be fiercely protective of their families. They get along with other dogs but can be argumentative sometimes. Basenjis are renowned for their keen eyesight and excellent sense of smell.
Basenjis are small, short-haired dogs with erect ears, tightly curled tails and graceful necks. A Basenji's forehead is wrinkled, even more so when it is young or extremely excited. A Basenji's eyes are typically almond-shaped. Basenjis typically weigh about 9–11 kg (20–24 lb) and stand 41–46 cm (16–18 in) at the shoulder. They are a square breed, which means they are as long as they are tall with males usually larger than females. Basenjis are athletic dogs, and deceptively powerful for their size. They have a graceful, confident gait like a trotting horse, and skim the ground in a double suspension gallop, with their characteristic curled tail straightened out for greater balance when running at their top speed. Basenjis come in a few different colorations: red, black, tricolor, and brindle, and they all have white feet, chests and tail tips. They can also come in trindle, which is a tricolor with brindle points, a rare combination.
The Cache:
You are looking for a regular bison. While this area can be quiet be aware there are times when it may get very busy! Please use stealth and please make sure that the container is attached properly before leaving so that there's no danger of it being noticed by muggles! Happy hunting! 🤠
