Geocache Description:

Coulee Dam is a great town to visit if you are looking for some serious outdoor recreation. Lake Roosevelt and Banks Lake are ideal for fishing and boating. There are trails conveniently located for hiking and biking. Steamboat Rock and Sun Lakes-Dry Falls State Parks provides year-round activities including water and snow recreation. For the 4 wheeler, there are miles of off road trails and sand dune hills. Don't forget the spectacular laser light show in the summer.

Downriver Trail is a 6.7 mile hiking/jogging/biking trail along the Columbia River (Rufus Woods Lake) below Grand Coulee Dam. It was constructed by the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation in late 1989.

The landscaped trail, part of a road that is used by the U.S.B.R. for maintenance purposes, is open to the public. No motorized vehicles are allowed. A foot and bicycle bridge connects the system to the town of Coulee Dam. This compact-gravel pathway is an excellent way to view the river and enjoy a peaceful respite morning, noon or night.

This cache is located at one of the parking areas and trail heads for the Downriver trail.
