Navigation, Scenic and Social Event
Event is a navigational run through the better roads of the Beerburrum and Glasshouse Forestry areas. The event will be points based, starting from 09:00 Saturday and ending with a BYO picnic/bbq (late) lunch from 14:00. We will attempt to reserve a BBQ area at the finish location. Anyone wishing to just come out for a social, can join us from 14:00.
Requirements:
High Clearance 2WD or 4WD vehicle.
GPS device with ability to import GPX file.
At least a 2 Person Crew (one to drive, one to navigate).
Observation Skills.
Social Skills.
The event will be navigated by way of pre-loaded waypoints, which will be downloadable from the night before. Each waypoint will correlate to questions provided on a road book that will be issued at the start. There will be additional observational clues on the way around, so you will need to keep your eyes tuned into the random things that catch my eye as I am driving around.
You can break off and rejoin at any time, if you need to go for a refuel or stock up on snacks, although I would recommend that adequate of both, be carried on board throughout the event to keep the crew focused.
The event is designed to be a day event, but there are a few campgrounds and caravan parks within reasonable distance for those that wish to make a weekend of it.
Although the best roads have been chosen, the current conditions are forever changing so I would advise high clearance vehicles only. Most roads are gravelled, however there are a couple where there is tall grass growing up in the middle and may ground out a lower vehicle. There are also a few mildly rough sections that could also do some underbody damage to the lower vehicles.
