Trail Orta - Lungolago Ettore Motta
Passato l'affitto barche in poco si raggiunge la Cappella della Madonnina dove si trova la nostra cache e proseguendo si arriva fino alla fine della passeggiata dove si erge Villa Motta. La Villa fu costruita nella seconda metà dell'Ottocento, ad opera della famiglia novarese dei nobili Gallini e nel 1921 passa a Rosa Antonione Motta moglie di Giacinto Motta, il suo parco si stende sulle pendici della collina che la circonda e, a differenza di altri, prevalgono i cespugli raggruppati in boschetti (camelie, orsmanti e rododendri) e siepi (azalee) mentre le conifere sono raggruppate in baschi. Il giardino è perciò luminosissimo, ed offre molte prospettive sul lago e sull'isola di S. Giulio. Le fioriture sono durante tutto l'anno, alternando rose (maggio-ottobre), osmanti (settembre-ottobre), camelie invernali (sasanqua), camelie primaverili (japonica, reticulata, cuspidata, ibridi williamsii ed altre), rododendri ed azalee. Fra le piante notevoli, un ibrido di rododendro arboreo alto circa quindici metri, la collezione di camelie, e, soprattutto, le siepi di centinaia di azalee rosa, antiche di oltre cinquant’anni, che ogni anno fioriscono intorno al dieci maggio.

Trail Orta - Lakeside Ettore Motta
After the boat rental in a little while you reach the Chapel of the Madonnina where our cache is located and continuing to reach the end of the promenade where Villa Motta stands. The Villa was built in the second half of the nineteenth century, by the Gallini noble family of Novara and in 1921 it passed to Rosa Antonione Motta wife of Giacinto Motta, its park extends on the slopes of the hill that surrounds it and, unlike others , bushes grouped in thickets (camellias, orsmants and rhododendrons) and hedges (azaleas) prevail, while conifers are grouped in Basques. The garden is therefore very bright, and offers many perspectives on the lake and on the island of S. Giulio. The blooms are throughout the year, alternating roses (May-October), osmanthus (September-October), winter camellias (sasanqua), spring camellias (japonica, reticulata, cuspidata, williamsii hybrids and others), rhododendrons and azaleas. Among the remarkable plants, a hybrid of arboreal rhododendron about fifteen meters high, the collection of camellias, and, above all, the hedges of hundreds of pink azaleas, more than fifty years old, which bloom every year around 10 May.
