The First bridge accross the river was constructed of timber in 1886, a little upstream from the present one. There was a dispute between the Cardiff School Committee and the contractor, who was apparently taking timber from the school reserve. A second bridge of steel was constructed about the turn of the century and seved untill the present concrete structure was built. It now nestles alongside, the half hidden in bush, of interest in its own right.
