Loch Chon Folklore
The translation of Loch Chon from Gaelic is “Loch of Dogs”. It’s said to have been named from a terrifying dog-like water monster that lives in the depths of the water. Scotland’s no stranger to tales of water monsters – from the Loch Ness Monster to selkies and kelpies (water-horses) – but this is the first dog-shaped water monster I’d heard of an amazing place with three island well worth a paddle or a swim.
