DE Noorderbegraafplaats is in gebruik genomen in 1924, nadat de begraafplaats Vredehof door een overstroming blank kwam te staan. Men koos toen definitief voor de hoger gelegen Noorderbegraafplaats..
Op deze begraafplaats zijn monumenten en graven voor -en van de burger slachtoffers die tijdens de tweede wereldoorlog omkwamen. Daarnaast is er een ruim veld met 200 graven van soldaten uit het Gemenebest, alsmede Poolse soldaten. Daarnaast liggen nog Nederlandse soldaten en/of verzetsmensen, waaronder het graf van Maria Joanna Doornbos, een dappere Vlissingse verzetstrijdster. Zij overleed 03-05-1944 aan de gevolgen van difterie op 28-jarige leeftijd. cache is hier verstopt, pas op met pottenkijkers N 51° (A) (B). (C) (D) E° 003 (E) (F). The Noorderbegraafplaats (northern cemetery) was opened in 1924, after the Vredehof cemetery was flooded. The decision was then definitively made to use the for the higher location of the Noorderbegraafplaats.
This cemetery contains monuments and graves for and of civilian victims who died during the Second World War. In addition, there is a large field with 200 graves of Commonwealth soldiers, as well as Polish soldiers. Also there are graves of Dutch soldiers and/or resistance members, including the grave of Maria Joanna Doornbos, a brave Vlissingen female resistance fighter.
