O Real Convento de Mafra, mais tarde batizado de Palácio Nacional de Mafra, é uma imponente obra do reinado de D. João V e o mais importante símbolo da arquitetura Barroca em Portugal.
Localizado em pleno coração da vila de Mafra – na praça homónima ao rei que o mandou construir, é o único Monumento Nacional que integra um Paço Real, uma Basílica e um Convento.
São mais de 40.000 m2 e 1200 divisões de que fazem parte espaços e instrumentos únicos no mundo. É o caso da Biblioteca, que guarda todo o conhecimento de um acervo com mais de 36 mil volumes; do conjunto sineiro constituído por dois carrilhões com um total de 98 sinos; e dos seis históricos órgãos que voltaram a ecoar pela Basílica em 2010.
Para além destas singulares características, o Palácio-Convento de Mafra acumulou diversas distinções ao longo dos anos. Classificado como Monumento Nacional em 1910, foi finalista da eleição das Sete Maravilhas de Portugal em 2007 e é, desde 2019, Património Mundial da UNESCO.

The Royal Convent of Mafra, later christened the National Palace of Mafra, is an imposing work of the reign of King João V and the most important symbol of Baroque architecture in Portugal.
Located in the heart of the town of Mafra – in the square named after the king who ordered it to be built, it is the only National Monument that includes a Royal Palace, a Basilica and a Convent.
There are more than 40,000 m2 and 1,200 rooms that are part of unique spaces and instruments in the world. This is the case of the Library, which keeps all the knowledge of a collection with more than 36 thousand volumes; the bell set consisting of two carillons with a total of 98 bells; and the six historic organs that reverberated through the Basilica in 2010.
In addition to these unique characteristics, the Palace-Convent of Mafra has accumulated several distinctions over the years. Classified as a National Monument in 1910, it was a finalist in the election of the Seven Wonders of Portugal in 2007 and has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2019.
